Национална инициатива Едно Изречение Живот по повод 29 октомври - световен ден за борба с инсулта

The Stroke and Aphasia Association calls on everyone in Bulgaria to join the #OneSentenceLife initiative

One sentence can save a life

On the eve of World Stroke Day – October 29, the Association for Stroke and Aphasia (SAA) is making a national appeal to all Bulgarian municipalities to share the message:

“If someone next to you suddenly cannot speak, cannot smile symmetrically or cannot raise their hand – this is a stroke – call 112 immediately.

Share this sentence. Tag it with: #OneSentenceLife”

The aim of the initiative is to remind that recognizing the first signs of stroke and timely response can save lives and prevent severe disability.

A national initiative of great importance

Any city or municipality can join the campaign by publishing the sentence on its official website or social media page between October 25 and 29, 2025.

The association will summarize the results and present the participating municipalities in a national report and media tour on the occasion of World Stroke Day.

Gratitude to Bulgarian municipalities

“We express our deep gratitude to all municipalities that have actively supported our efforts for awareness and prevention over the years. Thanks to them, stroke prevention has real national coverage,” said Dorina Dobreva, President of the Association for Stroke and Aphasia.

She emphasized that cooperation with local authorities is of key importance for reaching the messages to every settlement in the country.

Stroke does not wait – recognize and act!

Stroke remains the leading cause of death and disability in Bulgaria and the world.

Calling 112 promptly at the first symptoms – difficulty speaking, asymmetrical smile, weakness in the arm – is crucial for the patient’s survival and recovery.

#OneSentenceLife — because life may depend on what we say in time.
