Aphasia. Types of aphasia

What aphasia means?

One of the hidden challenges after stroke is aphasia. By this term we mean the impaired ability to communicate. In aphasia we can observe:
- Difficulty understanding speech;
- Difficulty understanding complex sentences;
- Difficulty understanding speech when talking to two or more people at the same time;
- Impossibility of speech;
- Difficult or delayed pronunciation of words;
- Impossibility of speech, pronouncing different sounds instead of words;
- Difficulty writing;
- Reading difficulties.

Who can help us?

To overcome this challenge we can turn to specialists called aphasiologists. Most often, these are speech therapists who have specialized in solving aphasiological problems.
