
On 11 November 2025, Bulgaria will mark the first National Stroke Awareness Day, initiated by the Association for Stroke and Aphasia (ASA).
This day launches an annual tradition of honest, open, and public dialogue about the care for stroke survivors and the need for joint action to improve prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and social reintegration.

1. Press Conference of the Association for Stroke and Aphasia
11 November 2025, 11:00 a.m.
National Press Club of BTA, 49 Tsarigradsko shose Blvd., Sofia
The press conference will:
Present the results of the national campaign “One Sentence Life”, dedicated to World Stroke Day (29 October);
Highlight key initiatives and partnerships achieved by ASA in 2025;
Officially announce 11 November as Bulgaria’s National Stroke Awareness Day, calling for coordinated national action and support for stroke survivors.
2. “Stroke in Bulgaria – Dialogue for Change”
11 November 2025, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Space “Shtrak”, 3 Hristo Belchev St., Sofia
An open public dialogue bringing together all participants in the “stroke pathway” – from primary prevention and emergency care, through treatment and rehabilitation, to social integration, ongoing therapy, and palliative care.
The event will be held honestly, openly, and clearly, featuring patients, physicians, therapists, social workers, academic experts, journalists, and citizens.
ASA is collecting questions from stroke survivors and their families, which will be formally submitted to the relevant institutions.
If institutional representatives are absent, the questions will be sent in writing and the answers will be published publicly once received.

3. Official Opening of the Exhibition “Colors of Hope”
11 November 2025, 6:00 p.m.
Sofia Central Market Hall (Sofiiski hali), 2nd floor, near the historical clock mechanism
The exhibition will be open from 10 to 24 November 2025
The exhibition features paintings by Donka Dimitrova, a stroke survivor since 2016, who found new meaning and strength through art despite severe consequences.
The event has a charitable purpose – cards featuring her artworks will be available, with proceeds supporting stroke patients across Bulgaria.
The exhibition is organized with the support of Kaufland Bulgaria.
