Students and teachers from the Bulgarian Secondary School (BFU) "Dr. Petar Beron" in Prague, Czech Republic, took part in an educational and practical lesson in biology and health education on the topic: "Path of Knowledge", which took place in the assembly hall of the educational center.

Initiators and purpose of the eventThe initiators of the event were Eng. Dorina Dobreva – Chairperson of the Association for Stroke and Aphasia, and Dr. Georgi Georgiev – Deputy. Chairman, who were delegates in the Czech capital of the European Forum for Life after Stroke. Despite their busy schedule, thanks to the emphasized hospitality of the hosts from BFU "Dr. Petar Beron", they managed to make this exciting meeting happen. In the form of a game and in a really fascinating way, the association managed to introduce both students and teachers to one of the diseases of the current century - stroke. The event was aimed at raising awareness of the risks and warning signs of stroke, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Path of HealthDuring the lesson, the participants had the opportunity to go through the "Path of Knowledge", to find out if they live healthily and to learn more about the risks to their health. Students and teachers learned what are the warning signs of a stroke that we need to be able to recognize in order to be able to react in a timely and adequate manner.

"We are happy that all the graduates of this wonderful school – from the youngest to the oldest – passed through the Path of Knowledge. We are confident that they will take what they have learned in their minds and will keep it for life!" – said Eng. Dorina Dobreva, Chairperson of the Association for Stroke and Aphasia.

The educational event was attended by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to the Czech Republic Dancho Michev and Dr. Petko Prodanov – cardiologist from the University Hospital "Kralovske Vinohrady" in Prague. The presence of these important guests emphasized the importance of the initiative and the support of Bulgarian institutions and community abroad for a healthy lifestyle.

"We are grateful to His Excellency, Ambassador Michev for his time in his really busy program. We are happy that we have the opportunity to be a guest in such a cohesive team, under the leadership of Mrs. Maria Nosikova, the director of BFU "Dr. Petar Beron". The heartfelt support we received from Dr. Prodanov is extremely important for us, because with his help our initiative today will grow into a tradition for health prevention in the near future," said Dr. Georgi Georgiev, Deputy Chairman of the Association for Stroke and Aphasia.

"As part of the ongoing campaign for a healthy lifestyle, our school, together with the Association for Stroke and Aphasia, committed to a second, larger meeting with the participation of the Bulgarian community in the Czech capital. This promises to be another important step towards raising awareness and improving people's health." – announced Mrs. Maria Nosikova, Director of BFU "Dr. Petar Beron".

History and mission of the school

Dr. Petar Beron School in Prague is the only Bulgarian public school in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1948 on the initiative of patriotic Bulgarian gardeners, for whom the priority was for their children to learn the literary Bulgarian language, to know Bulgarian history and not to break the connection with Bulgaria. Today the school has the status of a "Bulgarian state secondary school" and students from first to twelfth grade are trained in it.

Events such as the Knowledge Trail are an important part of the educational process, helping students expand their knowledge and develop critical thinking, while promoting healthy habits and awareness of important health issues.

We sincerely thank everyone for their hospitality and especially the children!
