Today at an official ceremony and blessing was open a high-tech cerebrovascular center at the University Hospital "St. George" EAD - Plovdiv. This is a very big step forward in providing affordable modern and timely treatment of stroke patients in Bulgaria. (We recall that "ensuring equal and timely access to modern and quality treatment of the acute phase of stroke" is part of the Stroke and Aphasia Association Call on the occasion of May 14 – the European Stroke Awareness Day.) According to the University Hospital, the new center is fully equipped with modern equipment and has the necessary specialists for the treatment of all types of cerebrovascular diseases.
In recent years, St. George University Hospital has been increasing and deepening its expertise in the field, with 6% of thrombolysis and 4% of thrombectomies in Bulgaria being performed in the University Hospital last year.
We congratulate the head of the center, prof. Dr. Penka Atanasova for the sustainable efforts of cooperation with all other clinics of the University Hospital and the Medical University in Sofia. We use the opportunity to congratulate the whole young team formed by Dr. Ivan Popov and Dr. Alexander Spasov, who will "enliven" the new center!
